DANIEL ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police are looking for the party responsible for stealing a Boy Scouts trailer from a Daniel Island church parking lot.
Members from Church of the Holy Cross on Seven Farms Drive on Daniel Island last spotted the trailer Sunday afternoon.
The incident mirrors a recent theft in the Sangaree area of Summerville, where someone stole a Boy Scouts trailer from the Scout Master's yard.
Much like the Summerville case, the Daniel Island suspect left a piece of the broken lock on the ground.
Bryan Bain, the committee chair of Daniel Island Troop 519, said the trailer was chained to a tree for extra security. His troop recently purchased the Diamond Cargo 7x10 TA (Tandem Axle) in August, and planned to have their logo painted on it next week.
Bain estimates the value of the trailer is close to $5000.
He says it was stocked with tents, camp stoves, propane tanks, tarps, rope, and other camping equipment.
Anyone with information, is asked to contact Charleston Police.
