NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police are investigating reports of an early Wednesday morning home invasion at a North Charleston apartment complex.

North Charleston police responded to a call for an alleged assault at the Reserve at Ashley River apartments on Dorchester Road just before 4 a.m.

The victim told police he and a female victim were in bed when they woke up to two suspects pointing guns in their faces. The suspects asked for the victim's roommate, who was not home at the time.

Police say the suspects allegedly tied up the victims in the bedroom with shirts and socks, ransacked the apartment, and then left.

The male victim told police one of the suspects struck him with a handgun, while the second suspect had an AK-47. The victim also stated he did not know who the suspects were or what they were after, and that his roommate often hands out keys to the apartment.

According to a release, officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana throughout the apartment, and found traces of marijuana and a digital scale.

The suspects are described as black males wearing all black clothing. One of the suspects was approximately 6'0" with a skinny build and had a white bandana covering his face. The other suspect was approximately 5'09" with a skinny build and had a black bandana covering his face.

The incident is under investigation.
