NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is trying to find two men responsible for an attempted robbery.
Just before midnight on July 21st at the Kangaroo gas station on Ashley Phosphate, Anthony Morris and his wife were paying for their purchase.
A man behind him may have seen that he was carrying several $100 bills. That man and a second suspect in a white SUV can be seen outside near the gas pumps.
Morris says they followed him down Ashley phosphate to his Tedder Street home. Once there, one suspect walked up to Morris asking for directions before pulling out a gun and demanding his money.
Morris was trained in hand-to-hand combat when he was in the Marines. He kicked the gun out of the suspect's hand and fought the suspect before the suspect ran back into the SUV. Morris grabbed the gun and shot at the getaway vehicle twice.
The detective working this case, Will Muirheid with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office says they believe the White Dodge Nitro SUV could be key to finding those responsible. "Take a keen look at the vehicle. The vehicle is actually distinctive. There
weren't that many made. And maybe just the little nuances of the vehicle around the hubcap and things like that that would distinguish it from another. It may even be possible that is has bullet holes in the rear tailgate portion of the vehicle."
If you have any information on the two suspects, call Crimestoppers at 554-1111 or visitwww.5541111.com.
