CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCBD) - A Charleston County Detention Officer has been arrested and fired from his job for allegedly possessing child porn.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office held a news conference Wednesday afternoon announcing the arrest. Several weeks ago, they received information that 27-year old Matthew William Davis of Summerville may be in possession of child porn. CCSO called the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office to investigate since he lived in their jurisdiction.

Officials say they served a warrant at Davis home and seized two laptops which contained ten pictures of minors involved in sexual activity. The Charleston County Sheriff’s office fired him for violation of policies this morning, and then officials say he turned himself in. He had worked as a detention officer with Charleston County since March of 2013.

Davis faces charges of Sex/Sexual exploitation of a minor. He is currently being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
