GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office say they are closely monitoring developments in the discovery of skeletal remains that were found in the Upstate on Thursday.
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office says bones were discovered about six miles outside of Traveler's Rest in a wooded area. Investigators could not say how long the remains have been there.
Investigators in the Lowcountry say they are watching the developments in that case in connection to the disappearance of Gayle McCaffrey who has not been seen since March 2012.
According to Charleston County deputies, Robert McCaffrey was pulled over for speeding in Traveler's Rest, the same day she was reported missing.
Major Watson says the sheriff's office is waiting to find out more information before sending anyone to the site.
Officials consider the missing woman's husband, Robert McCaffrey, the prime suspect in her murder.
