WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department is looking for the driver and vehicle in a hit-and-run that left a bicyclist in critical condition in West Ashley.
Authorities say the incident happened at 12:45 a.m. on Sunday on Saint Andrew's Boulevard near Colony Drive where a bicyclist, identified as 29-year-old Terrell Wright, was struck by a car as he was traveling northbound on the bicycle lane.
Police say the vehicle then fled the scene leaving a part of the car behind. Investigators say based on the part (pictured above) left at the scene, police have identified the car as a 2003-2007 4-door charcoal grey Honda Accord.
A police report states the vehicle sustained damage to the front passenger side quarter panel.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111 or Investigator O. Fabisewicz at 965-4048 or 901-3872.
"I would hope they would find it within their heart to come forward because it would be the right thing to do," says Ivan Wright, Terrell's brother.
Wright's family says Terrell has some swelling in the brain and was put on a respirator Monday.
