NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police say two parents were arrested last week after a car accident involving alcohol led deputies to the couple's home, where authorities found drug manufacturing equipment, and their three children locked in a bedroom alone.
Ashley Frazier, 26, and Bradley Strange, 31, have been charged with three counts of child endangerment.
According to an incident report, an officer saw a Chevy Aveon wrecked in a ditch next to a CVS Pharmacy near Dorchester Road and Ashley Phosphate Road Friday around 12:15 a.m.
Police say Frazier, who was found trying to get into another vehicle in the drug store parking lot, admitted she wrecked her car. Frazier was slurring her words and smelled of alcohol, according to police.
Officers then went to Frazier's apartment on Cherrywood Drive after she told police her three children, ages three and under, were home alone and the door was left unlocked. Frazier told officers her husband, Strange, was at work.
The report states an officer found the three children in a bedroom that was locked from the outside. All three children were dirty and had soiled diapers.
Police say drug manufacturing equipment, drug paraphernalia, and what appeared to be jars packed with drugs was spotted in plain view as authorities cleared the residence.
While attempting to find something to drink for the children, officers say two jars of what appeared to be "shrooms" were found in the refrigerator within reach of the children.
Strange arrived at the home and was then arrested.
The three children were taken into emergency protective custody by DSS, the report states.
Additional charges may be pending.
