WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the Charleston Police Department are on the lookout for a man who robbed a bank in West Ashley Friday afternoon.
Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said the First Palmetto Bank located at 5 Sumar Street, near the split of Old Towne Road and Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, was robbed about 2 p.m.
Police describe the suspect as a black male, between the ages of 40 and 50, bald head, medium build, wearing dark colored clothing with a black hat and a mask.
According to police, at one point, while the suspect was inside the bank he removed his mask from his face.
Authorities say the suspect said he had a gun, but never took out a weapon. The suspect was also seen with a brown plastic bag.
The robber took off with an undisclosed amount of money. Francis said no one was injured in the incident.
