NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 21-year-old man is behind bars after a teen was shot in the head and forehead over the weekend in North Charleston.

North Charleston Police Department officers arrested Jared Lavour Carson Saturday after responding to the shooting inside 5240 Napoleon Drive. When police arrived at the home just before 11:30 a.m., they found the 19-year-old victim lying on the bedroom floor upstairs, suffering from gunshot wounds to the left side of his chest and to his forehead.

The victim’s brother and girlfriend were tending to him, police said. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.

The girlfriend told investigators she heard a knock on the front door, and heard a voice saying “it’s your neighbor, let me in.” When she opened the door, she said an unknown man place a black revolver in her face and asked where the 19-year-old victim was. The girlfriend said the man grabbed her and forced her upstairs, where he tucked her away in a bedroom.

Moments later, the girlfriend said she heard a couple of gunshots. She said she waited a few seconds before exiting the bedroom and finding her boyfriend on the floor with blood coming from his head and chest.

The victim’s brother told police he was asleep when the shooting happened.

Later Saturday, police say Carson turned himself into authorities. He was charged with attempted murder, first-degree burglary, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was issued a $200,000 bond on those charges on Sunday.

He remained behind bars at the Charleston County Detention Center on Monday.

A small amount of marijuana was found in the home, and the victim’s brother was cited for it, police said.
