JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has arrested two men and are looking for another in connection to a home invasion on Johns Island.
Investigators charged 28-year-old Lataj Montese Maxwell and 18-year-old Jarell Montsho Bailey with first-degree burglary, kidnapping, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
On Saturday around 1:35 a.m., deputies responded to Johns Island home for a report of a home invasion and robbery.
According to the two victims inside the home, three suspects, who were armed with two guns, forced their way into the home. The suspects demanded money and debit cards while holding a gun to a victim's head.
An incident report states the suspects rummaged through the house for 20 minutes and as they were leaving, two other residents entered the home. The suspects then ordered the two residents to the floor and fired shots at the ceiling as they left the home.
A Charleston police officer patrolling the area then saw a suspicious vehicle leaving the area and initiated a traffic stop. The sheriff's office says two of the occupants inside the vehicle were identified as two of the three individuals responsible for the home invasion and were arrested.
Investigators are looking for the third suspect involved. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at (843) 202-1700 or Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
