NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police in North Charleston are investigating the second home invasion reported this week where the resident was shot.
North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said early Wednesday morning, a resident at 7583 Hunters Ridge Lane heard someone knocking on his door.
Pryor said the victim opened the door and two "male suspects" pushed their way inside, one of whom was carrying a handgun.
The victim tried to escape upstairs but was shot once in his right thigh, Pryor said.
The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.
This home invasion shares many of the same characteristics as one reported early Monday on Tuskegee Drive, located a short distance down Ashley Phosphate Road from the incident this morning.
In that case, two men forced their way in after the resident opened his door when he heard someone knock. That victim was shot in the foot.
