ORANGEBURG, SC (WCSC) - The sheriff's office has arrested a father and son after investigators found 20 marijuana plants at a home in Orangeburg County.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office charged 49-year-old Richard Neal Jennings with manufacturing drugs and Brandon Lee Jennings with possession of marijuana.

Investigators say they were investigating marijuana plants being grown inside a Neeses home on Friday. After detecting a strong odor coming from an outdoor shed and other items associated with manufacturing marijuana, officers say they obtained a search warrant for the home on Greatview Road.

Officers say they located 20 marijuana plants being grown in the outdoor shed on the property.

According to an incident report, the shed was equipped with grow lights, conveyer lights, insulated rooms, exhaust fans and air conditioners, various fertilizers and manicured plants.

The sheriff's office says Richard Jennings made statements to investigators that the plants were his. Deputies say marijuana and other paraphernalia were located in Brandon Lee Jennings's room.

Officers also seized three handguns, a 12 gauge shotgun and a .22 auto rifle.

"Our narcotic investigations are producing some outstanding results," Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said."We are locating some elaborate operations and making arrests in areas of the county that have not seen this type of consistent results in a while. We are grateful to concerned citizens for providing us vital information to begin our investigations into unlawful activity in our county."
