CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police say a 29 year old accused of gunning down a man in Charleston's eastside was caught on video waiting for the victim and then shooting him.

Bond was denied on Wednesday for Joshua Robinson who is charged with murder.

This is not the first time Robinson has been charged with murder.

He was charged with the shooting death of a 36-year-old man in June 2008 but the charge was dropped in late 2010.

Now, Robinson is facing a new murder charge. Court affidavits released state Robinson was picked out of a photo lineup by three witnesses and that he was seen on surveillance video waiting for the victim and then shooting him.

The shooting happened last Thursday on Reid Street. Investigators say the victim, 23-year-old Maliek Byers was shot four times in the back.

Detectives say Byers ran to his girlfriend's apartment around the corner on Hanover Street where he died.

"I'm numb, I'm really numb the way he took Maliek's life," said Byer's friend, Nichole Johnson."Shot him in the back four times. He had no way knowing anybody was going for him."

Police say the killing was drug related.

Robinson has a long criminal record that includes convictions for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature after he fired a gun into a building in 2001.
