CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police say a woman who was sitting in her vehicle was shot in the leg following a shooting in downtown Thursday evening.
The Charleston Police Department says the shooting happened in the area of Rutledge Avenue and Grove Street around 6:30 p.m.
According to investigators, a woman sitting in her vehicle near the intersection was shot in the leg after two males got into a confrontation and one of them began firing a gun at the other.
The woman was transported to MUSC where she was treated and released.
Investigators say they believed earlier that both males involved in the confrontation shot at each other. Police said Thursday night that they have determined that only one of the males was shooting a gun.
Neighbors have reported hearing as many as 8 to 10 gun shots.
Police are continuing the investigation.
