NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The North Charleston Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred shortly after midnight in the area of Purcell Drive and Old Ridge Road in North Charleston.
When officers arrived on the scene of the shooting they found a man dead in the road. The Charleston County Coroner's Office says 23-year-old Andre Manigault of North Charleston died from a gunshot wound.
Witnesses told police that they saw a gold colored Ford Crown Victoria leaving the area of the shooting at a high rate of speed. During a traffic stop near Ashley Phosphate Road, officers found a vehicle matching that same description.
Investigators say the driver of that vehicle was arrested for driving under suspension. Authorities are working to determine if the driver had any involvement in the shooting.
Police say a second shooting victim was found in the area of Valleyview Lane. The victim was taken to MUSC for a gunshot wound to the leg.
Investigators say no motive for the shootings has been determined and that the investigation is still ongoing.
