WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery which happened Tuesday night at a gas station on Old Towne Road in West Ashley.
Officers with the Charleston Police Department responded to the BP station at 1141 Old Towne Road, near Highway 61, just before midnight Tuesday.
The clerk at the store told police that a man walked up to the register and passed a note to the clerk demanding cash. The man was holding what appeared to be a gun in his pocket, but he abruptly left the store before the clerk could hand over any cash from the register.
The robber is described as a black male standing 6' in height and weighing about 185 pounds. The clerk said he was wearing dark clothes.
