CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -
Police have arrested a suspected downtown drug dealer after authorities say they found cocaine, guns and a bullet proof vest at his home.
Charleston police charged 24-year-old Maurice Malloy with trafficking cocaine base, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony.
In an ongoing investigation, the Charleston Police Department's Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant on Wednesday at Malloy's home on South Street.
According to authorities, investigators confiscated 55 grams of cocaine, about 34 grams of cocaine base, two handguns, one of which was reported stolen out of Mount Pleasant, $400 cash and a bullet proof vest.
Malloy, who was out on bond on charges of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and assault on police while resisting arrest, is being held in the Charleston County Detention Center.
Charleston police have issued arrest warrants for 21-year-old Darius Malloy, Maurice's brother, in connection to the case. The warrants for Darius Malloy are for trafficking cocaine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
