JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - A man was shot in the knee in the parking lot outside a Johns Island Mexican restaurant over the weekend. Charleston County sheriff's deputies are looking for the shooter who was wearing a black cowboy hat.
Deputies responded to 3440 Maybank Highway at 2:30 a.m. Sunday after reports of a shooting. When deputies arrived they found the male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the left knee.
According to witnesses, the victim and the suspect got into an argument at the restaurant bar. The altercation then spilled over into the parking lot where the suspect allegedly brandished a black pistol. Witnesses say the suspect then pushed the victim to the ground, stood over him and shot him in the knee.
The suspect then came towards a second victim with the gun drawn and chased him towards the back of the restaurant. The suspect fired twice at the victim, but missed both times. Three shell casings were found at the scene.
The victims told deputies that the suspect then left with his son, who also had a gun, in a red Saturn SUV. The victims describe the shooter as a 50 to 57-year-old man about 5'6" and weighing 185 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
