CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC)- The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man they say led deputies on a chase in a stolen car in Ravenel on Thursday.
At 1:30 p.m., deputies received a report of a possible stolen vehicle in the area of the Fuel Zone on Highway 17. Deputies located a vehicle matching the description of a 1999 black Ford Explorer and attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle.
According to investigators, the vehicle failed to stop and fled on Hwy 17 southbound. Deputies say they deployed stop-sticks which deflated the vehicle tires.
The vehicle then traveled to the rear of the Jericho mobile home park where the driver fled on foot, abandoning the vehicle at the fence line.
Deputies searched the area for the suspect however the search was called off.
The description of the vehicle matches a vehicle that was stolen at a CVS in West Ashley Wednesday night. Police have not confirmed if they are the same vehicle.
