CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department say they have arrested a teenager who shot a man Thursday morning and tried to burglarize a home on Wednesday.
Authorities charged 18-year-old Eric Houston with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and second-degree burglary.
Police also arrested 19-year-old Antonio Odell McNeil and charged him with second-degree burglary. Both were being held in the Charleston County Detention Center.
The Thursday morning shooting happened on Doscher Avenue when the victim was approached from behind by Houston, police say. The victim told officers that when he went to grab Houston's arm, the suspect fired a shot which struck the victim in his right arm.
A police report states that on Wednesday afternoon, both suspects attempted to break into a Doscher Avenue home. The suspects fled the area after realizing someone was inside the residence.
The investigation is ongoing.
