SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - No one was injured after a drive-by shooting sprayed several bullets into a car early Thursday morning at a Summerville apartment complex.
Several witnesses told Summerville police officers that around 12:10 a.m. they were standing next to a Lincoln Town Car in the parking lot of Somerset Apartments on Boone Hill Road when a car drove by and fired several shots at them.
After the shooting, a female victim's brother ran after the vehicle. The victim and another woman got into their car and tried to follow the shooters. They were unable to locate the suspects.
Witnesses say a white car driving slowly turned a corner toward them and then sped up as two men armed with handguns leaned out the window and sprayed several shots in their direction.
According to the police report, officers recovered four unknown caliber shell casings from the scene. Two gun shots hit the car's windshield and a third damaged the hood. A second car also was hit by a bullet.
Witnesses say there were three or four men in the vehicle. The car was described as either a Chevrolet Lumina or Monte Carlo.
Summerville police continue to investigate the shooting.
