MT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Police are on the lookout for a suspect who punched a man 20 times during a carjacking in Mount Pleasant on Monday.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department arrived on the scene to find the victim bleeding from his head, eyes and throat. The victim's business partner told police that the victim had driven from Myrtle Beach to the Waves store off of Hungryneck Boulevard. After dropping off some supplies at his son's store, the victim drove off and stopped at a red light behind a few other cars.

While he was stopped, the victim said he was approached by a man wearing a straw hat, a dark shirt and white shorts. The victim described him as a thin 6'4" black man who appeared to be in his early 30's. He also noted that he had never seen the suspect before.

The suspect reportedly walked through the parking lot of a car wash and approached the victim's vehicle. He then opened the victim's car door and punched the victim approximately 20 times in the head, neck and face.

The victim stated that the suspect tried to grab his car keys and put his vehicle in park. After failing to do so, he walked away from the vehicle into a shopping center.

The Mount Pleasant Fire Department treated the victim for injuries on the scene. He declined to be taken to the hospital.
