NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police arrested a 17-year-old boy for allegedly shooting a man in the leg in North Charleston.
The North Charleston Police Department charged Ricardo Anthony Breland with attempted murder.
The victim, a 23-year-old man, told officers that he and his girlfriend were on Ashley Shores Drive when the shooting occurred.
According to investigators, the victim was walking to his girlfriend's car to hand her a cell phone and say goodbye when he heard what he thought were fireworks. The victim said he then felt a burning sensation in his left thigh and heard two more loud bangs.
When the victim realized he was shot, he ran down the street to get away and then stopped to look towards the shooter. The victim said he recognized the shooter who he walked past earlier in the day.
The victim's girlfriend said as she saw the victim running she drove to his location and drove him to the hospital.
Authorities were able to locate Breland and arrest him.
