NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - North Charleston Police are investigating a Dorchester Road nightclub shooting that left one person injured early Tuesday morning.

According to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened around 1 a.m. at Charley-O's.

The victim was transported privately to St. Francis Hospital. When police arrived on scene they helped with crowd control and began investigating the shooting.

The victim told authorities that he was standing by the bar in the club by himself when he heard a shot and felt a pain in his lower abdominal and pelvic region. Emergency room staff said the victim had a gunshot wound into the pelvic bone. There was no exit wound found and the caliber of the gun is unknown.

The victim was later transported to MUSC's trauma center due to the extent of his injuries. Police also took custody of the victim's bloody clothing and shoes to take to forensic analysis.

A witness told police that she saw a silver handgun near the victim, but was unable to give a description of the suspect.

Police are still investigating the incident, and there is no suspect or motive at this time.
