GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say they have arrested one person in connection with a shoplifting ring that involved hundreds of thousands of dollars at a Goose Creek pawn shop.
Berkeley County Spokesman Dan Moon says the owner of Mr. Flap's Pawn Shop allegedly hired people to shoplift items from stores. Moon announced Wednesday afternoon that the daughter of Mr. Flap's Pawn shop has been arrested.
Authorities say that hundreds of thousands of dollars in merchandise has been recovered. Investigators report that $100,000 of pet supplies were also recovered as a result of the investigation.
According to investigators, people from several states were recruited to shoplift. The suspects would get a cut of the profits after the items were sold at the pawn shop or through an online service.
Moon says that the investigation has been going on for months. Several agencies were involved in the investigation and more arrests are expected.
