MCCLELLANVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Investigators with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office are looking for a suspect they say shot a man during an attempted home invasion in McClellanville late Tuesday night.

Major John Clark said deputies responded to a home on Putnam Road around midnight after receiving reports of a shooting.

The victim told officers that he was sitting in his house watching a movie with his girlfriend when he heard a noise outside. The victim said when he went to check out the noise he was confronted in the doorway by the suspect.

Deputies say the suspect shot the victim in the shoulder before fleeing the scene. The suspect is described as a black male, about 5'6" with a small build. He was wearing a red and black shirt with a baseball cap.

The victim was transported by helicopter to MUSC and is expected to recover fully.
