Charges filed in bar shooting, deputies search for suspect in Berkeley Co

GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCBD) - The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office has placed numerous charges on a suspect involved in an early Thursday morning shooting on Redbank Road.

Deputies responded to Kamauri’s Sports Bar & Grill, about 2AM concerning a report of someone being shot in the parking lot of the club. That subject was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening wound.

Investigation by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the suspect drove his vehicle at and struck a security guard employed by the bar.

The security guard, 24 year old Monieque Green, who was not seriously injured, then fired his service weapon through the windshield of the vehicle being driven by the suspect, 25 year old Demar Devon Bacon of North Charleston.

Bacon received a wound to his chest and was treated by hospital staff. Bacon has refused to cooperate in this investigation and checked himself out of the hospital and is currently being sought by the Sheriff's Office on these charges: Attempted Murder, Unlawful Carrying of a handgun, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of Cocaine (3rd offense), Possession of Cocaine Base(3rd offense), Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana within ½ mile of a School, Possession with intent to Distribute Marijuana(3rdoffense) and Possession of MDMA(Ectasy) (3rd offense).
