JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Authorities are searching for a 24-year-old man charged with fatally shooting a man on James Island.
Domoneik Antwan Washington is wanted for murder and two counts of attempted murder, according to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office. The coroner's office says that 22-year-old Antwan Wilson died early Wednesday morning after crashing his car while he fled a shootout at a Kangaroo Express gas station.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says they are calling the incident a "run and gun" battle with the subjects involved using a revolver and an assault rifle. Authorities say the incident started with a fight around 2 a.m. at the Creekside Cafe on James Island and escalated into a shooting at a Kangaroo Express gas station.
Later that morning, deputies were called out to a traffic accident where Wilson's car had crashed into a tree near an intersection. Wilson was found shot to death with two of the passengers taken to MUSC for treatment.
Deputies also responded to a crime scene on West Ashley where a Oldsmobile Cutlass was found at the scene turned sideways on a sidewalk. According to authorities, gunshot holes were found on the car.
Investigators believe all three of these incidents stemmed from the fight at the cafe.
Authorities say Washington used a handgun. The operator of the assault rifle has not been found yet, according to the sheriff's department.
