WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) – The Colleton County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man they say was shot Saturday night near the intersection of Koth and Baker Street in Walterboro.
Sheriff's deputies were called out to the area after getting reports about gun fire heard. When deputies arrived no one was found at the scene where the shooting took place. Deputies searched the area, but nothing or no one was found.
A witness later contacted investigators about a possible shooting victim that was last seen in that area. The victim was identified as 19-year-old Dequan Williams of Walterboro.
Sheriff's deputies along with SLED Aviation Unit, family members and citizens began to search for Williams on foot and by air from Saturday night until 4 a.m. Sunday morning in adjacent woods near the scene.
The Department of Natural Resources and the Charleston County Sheriff's Office Aviation Unit is also helping to location Williams. Friends and family members have not heard from Williams since the shooting.
Authorities are continuing their search and the incident is being investigated to identify other individuals involved in this shooting.
