JAMES ISLAND, SC - A pizza restaurant on Folly Road was robbed by two masked men Tuesday night, authorities said.
About 11 p.m., two men walked into Pizza Hut at 890 Folly Road through the front door, according to an incident report from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.
One of the men was brandishing a black, semi-automatic handgun, the report said. The gunman ordered an employee to open the cash register and the other robber scooped out the cash. The robbers then asked the clerk to open the safe, which was equipped with a time lock and could not be opened.
Another employee went into a freezer and activated a silent alarm. The unarmed robber called the employee out of the freezer and made him get on his hands and knees, the report said. The robbers demanded money from both victims and, after being told the victims had no money, they ran out the back door.
Deputies, assisted by Charleston police officers, searched for suspects in the area, but no arrests were made.
The robbers were described as black men. Both were wearing all black clothing. One was 5 feet 10 inches tall and 140 to 160 pounds. He was wearing white gloves and had a do-rag pulled over to cover half of his face. The rag had holes cut for the eyes. The other man was 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall and 160 to 170 pounds. He also wore gloves. If you, or someone you know, have any information regarding any crime, you are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers.
