BERKELEY COUNTY, SC - The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office has issued a warrant for a man accused of selling the Eagle Harbor Boys Ranch's stolen computer this week.
Derrick Perry, 43, is wanted on a charge of receiving stolen goods, said Dan Moon, sheriff's public information officer. Perry's address is listed as 1507 Haney Branch Road in Summerville.
The computer was taken during a burglary Tuesday at the ranch near New Hope. It contained a list of nearly 2,000 donors for the nonprofit organization that provides a home for neglected, abused and orphaned boys.
The ranch is on 81 acres of land, half of which is pasture for horses. The boys are divided into two houses of eight, and each house is run by a married couple.
A neighbor who had heard about the burglary bought the computer Tuesday night from someone for $90 and returned it to the ranch.
Best Buy is providing the organization with a new computer, and Blackbaud is providing software to help the ranch to protect its records in the future.
