Shortly before 1am on Saturday, July 2nd, Gerald Lee Dilligard’s father returned home and found his 27 year-old son beaten to death lying on the floor between a bed and the bedroom door at their home 8 Rosemont Street. Charleston Police Department Officers who responded found blood spatter on the door and Dilligard had wounds on his head, neck and left arm. The Coroner’s Office later said he died of blunt-force trauma. It was not clear if an object or weapon was used in the slaying.
