NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities in North Charleston are investigating a shooting in the 4600 block of Hassell Avenue that left one person wounded.
The man was transported to MUSC, according to Charleston County EMS Director Don Lundy.
A witness reported that a woman near the scene was screaming, "They kill him!" as a chaplain and family members apparently were trying to hold her down, but there has been no official word on the extent of the injuries.
Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch confirmed that North Charleston police, fire and EMS all responded shortly after 10 a.m. to a shooting near the Felix Pinckney Community Center.
Nearby schools, which included Morningside Middle School, Academic Magnet and Liberty Hill Academy were all placed on lockdown as a precaution, school officials say.
