LADSON, SC (WCSC) - Witnesses and friends say the shooting death of a teen in Ladson late Monday night may have been act of retaliation.
Coroner Bill Salisbury says deputies responded to a shooting in the College Park area Monday around 9:49 p.m. Deputies arrived to find the victim, 15-year-old Alonza Williams of Goose Creek, suffering from several gunshot wounds.
According to witnesses, Williams was hanging out with friends outside a home on Temple Road when someone called out to him. That's when they heard between 6 and 8 shots fired.
Williams crawled up to the house and cried out for help, according to friend Daniel Williamson.
The wounded teen was flown by helicopter to MUSC where he died early Tuesday morning.
An autopsy was planned for Tuesday, according to the coroner.
Berkeley County Sheriff' Major Rick Ollic declined to release any other information, other than that deputies are following up on leads and moving "in a positive direction."
