CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) - Friday, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, in its continued effort to locate clues connected to the disappearance of Gayle McCaffrey, will be conducting a search in the West Ashley area of Charleston County.
This search will focus mainly in the areas of SC Hwy 61 and Bees Ferry Road. The Sheriff’s Office has conducted a number of searches in Charleston County and outside of Charleston County, which all have yielded no additional clues in McCaffrey’s disappearance.
This current search was not initiated as the result of new information obtained in this investigation. This is an active criminal investigation and Robert McCaffrey, the husband of Gayle McCaffrey, is still considered a suspect in this investigation.
As a reminder Gayle McCaffrey, (W/F 5-02 and 155 pounds with reddish brown hair and brown eyes), was reported missing from her residence, by her husband Robert McCaffrey on March 18, 2012. Robert McCaffrey told deputies that he last saw Gayle McCaffrey on March 17, 2012 around 10:00 p.m. before he left the residence to travel to Easley, SC. Mrs. McCaffrey has not been seen or heard from since being reported missing.
