CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) - James Madison Prevatt II was sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to sex crimes against a minor in Charleston during 2010.
Prevatt plead guilty to Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor, 3rd degree, Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, 1st degree and Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, 2nd degree.
In 2010, a woman disclosed that she had received an image from the defendant of a toddler boy being molested during online sexual conversations. In addition to sending pictures of the boy, the defendant admitted during the emails to sexually abusing the 17-month-old child.
Law enforcement arrested the defendant, who admitted to taking and sending the picture.
Prevatt pleaded guilty to the above three charges and was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
He consented to the forfeiture of the seized computer equipment, and must register as a sex offender after he completes his prison sentence.
