BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office say they believe a gunfight outside a motorcycle club injured a bystander early Friday morning.

According to investigators, at 12:30 a.m. deputies responded to the Nighhawks Motorcycle Club on 101 Broad River Boulevard in reference to a reported gunshot victim.

Deputies say the made contact with a 52-year-old man, who had a gunshot wound to his shoulder, lying on a picnic table outside.

Investigators say neither the victim or any of the people at the club had any information how the shooting happened, and was not able to provide information on a suspect.

A Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report states based on information collected at the scene, investigators believe that two or more suspects may have exchanged gunfire in the parking lot, with the victim being unintentionally caught in the crossfire.

The victim was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The sheriff's office says the motive for the shooting remains undetermined, and no suspects have been identified.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information to contact either Investigator SSgt. J. Fraser at 843-255-3416 or Crimestoppers.
