NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities are searching for a suspect in the armed robbery of a convenience store in North Charleston.

Officials with the North Charleston Police Department say the incident happened shortly after midnight on Tuesday at the Circle K at Dorchester Road and Montague Avenue.

Police say the suspect was armed with a gun and robbed the business of cash, cigarettes and beer.

Investigators describe the suspect as a 40-year-old black male with a dark complexion, 5'5" tall and wearing a camouflage jacket with a hood.

Authorities say no one was injured and the suspect was last seen running towards I-526.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
