GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - A student was hurt by a stray bullet at Goose Creek High, believed to have been fired from an off-campus location, according to Berkeley County School District officials.
The incident happened Tuesday evening.
Officials say the student received medical attention, and has been released from the hospital.
According to a recorded phone notification message from Goose Creek Principal Jimmy Huskey, the school is cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation.
No word yet on any suspects.
Huskey left the message for parents of Goose Creek High, Sedgefield Intermediate, and Sedgefield Middle School students.
Huskey says the schools will follow a normal bell schedule Wednesday, and that safety remains the highest priority of the school district.
