NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston police are investigating a fatal shooting which happened overnight in a popular shopping area.
Police spokesman Spencer Pryor said officers were called out to Tanger Outlet Boulevard shortly after 11 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.
Officers arrived on scene to find a woman dead in the roadway.
Witnesses told police they saw a man and woman walking up behind the victim when they heard a "pop" sound. That's when they saw the man and woman take off running from the scene. Police say the two were last seen climbing into an SUV, which was stopped on Hotel Road.
A helicopter was called to the scene, but the suspects were not found. The investigation is ongoing.
The Charleston County Coroner's Office has not released the name of the victim.
