SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Cell phones have a wide range of uses from talking, to e-mailing. Now, one Summerville man can add "crime-fighting" to that list. Gerald Livingston had his home burglarized on Monday morning.
"They just grabbed everything they could and they were piling it into some van or truck that was close by," Livingston says, adding that televisions, cameras, sports equipment, and cell phones were among the items taken.
Livingston, the owner of a cloud computing company, quickly thought to track his family's iPhones using the feature "Find My iPhone." He logged onto his iCloud account on his computer and was able to locate the stolen phones.
"I was so excited - I was like, ‘There they are -- we can actually get them, we know where they are." I was really excited," he says.
The Summerville Police Department was able to locate the stolen property at a trailer along Bell Drive in Lincolnville. One person was arrested and police say it is possible the trailer contained additional stolen property.
To enable to feature on Apple products with WiFi, click on "Settings," then "iCloud," then "Find My iPhone."
