NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Stall High School student was arrested Monday after a school resource officer found a stun gun in the student's backpack.
According to a North Charleston police report, the underage student was detained with two others on Monday morning when they tried to return to campus. Staff members told the students they had to meet with the principal and resource officer before being allowed back on campus.
The officer spoke to each student individually and searched their bags, which is when the stun gun was found, according to the report.
The student told the officer that he forgot the gun was in his bag, the report states. He was arrested and school officials called the boy's grandmother.
The boy later told officers that he had the stun gun for protection because of an altercation he had with several other people. The grandmother said the stun gun belonged to her.
The boy was then released into the care of his grandmother and his parole officer was contacted.
