NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A woman walking her dog at a North Charleston mobile home park Sunday night was attacked and punched in the face, police said.

The victim, Leilani Stansbury suffered bruises and soreness from the assault. It happened just before ten o'clock.

Stansbury says her dog pulled her behind the mobile home when a man came out of nowhere.

"Next thing I know I heard somebody yell bitch and I saw a fist in my face," she recalled. "Punched me in the face and I fell down and I just ran into the house."

"It felt like I had a brick upside my head. It did, and I can't believe somebody would hurt somebody. I wasn't hurting nobody. I wasn't doing anything."

She says the guy didn't try to rob her and ran away.

"I maybe surprised him because my car wasn't in my driveway so he wasn't thinking anybody was home."

Stansbury called her daughter who lives down the street.

"It scared me. It scared me for her because she was home alone and there was nothing we could do about it, except to come to make sure she was okay," said Tiffany Stansbury.

Her son found out what happened when he got home from work.

"I'd like to ask the guy, what if it was his mom that this happened to? How would he feel? What would he do?" John Stansbury said.

Leilani is a little shaken and sore.

"Other than that, I'm alive, so I can be thankful to God for that," she said.

Stansbury is determined to show the bad guys who boss on her street.

"If we gotta walk these streets every night, we're gonna walk these streets. We're not gonna take it no more."

So far, North Charleston Police have not identified any suspects in the attack.
