NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Police are searching for a suspect who they say robbed a West Ashley CVS at gunpoint, and then attempted to rob another pharmacy less than an hour later.
Charleston police say a man carrying a gun entered CVS at 2152 Savannah Hwy. around 3:15 a.m. Saturday morning. The suspect demanded money from the store's cashier.
After receiving the money, police say the suspect fled on foot.
North Charleston police responded to another CVS around 4 a.m. after a man forced the clerks to the pharmacy area. Authorities say the pharmacist heard all the commotion and called 9-1-1.
Police say the suspect immediately ran out of the store through an emergency exit without getting anything.
Surveillance footage from both drug stores appear to show the same suspect involved in both incidents, police say.
The suspect was last seen wearing dark boots with a long sleeve gray shirt and a dark ball cap with red trim around the bill. The suspect was also seen wearing some type of cloth over his head under the hat when he entered the CVS.
