NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police are investigating after a man was shot in the ankle while walking down Rivers Avenue late Thursday.
North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said officers responded to the corner of Rivers Avenue and Hanahan Road around 11 p.m. The victim told them he was walking east on Rivers Avenue when a dark-colored vehicle passed by him.
The victim said he crossed over to the other side of the road after hearing someone in the vehicle "shout something."
The man told police the vehicle then turned around and came back towards him, before a suspect got out of the vehicle and began shooting at him.
The victim was taken to Roper Northwoods Hospital for treatment of the non-life-threatening injury, Pryor said.
Pryor also said the victim was unable to provide information on the person who shot him.
