CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the Charleston Police Department say they have arrested two suspects responsible for robbing two victims at gunpoint early Tuesday morning.
Police say 21-year-old Thomason Rashard Bennett III and 22-year-old Brittany Monique Bonneau have been arrested for an armed robbery that occurred around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning in downtown.
According to an incident report, the two victims were walking through Waterfront Park to their car. Once they reached the corner of Concord Street and Exchange Street, a black male pulled out a pistol, chambered a bullet, and demanded everything they had, said the victims.
After giving the suspect their things, they were told to run away, police say.
Once the two victims ran away, one of the victims says he walked back towards the intersection and watched a gray Mercury vehicle pick up the suspect, who was still waiting at the scene.
Police say another officer saw a vehicle that matched the description driving down Meeting Street and pulled it over, arresting both Bonneau and Bennett.
