CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the Charleston Police Department say they have arrested two men involved in the murder of 22-year-old William Nelson III.
Police say 23-year-old Dontez Alonzo Wright and 19-year-old Devin Brandon Middleton were arrested Monday evening in the area of Norman and Line streets in downtown Charleston. Middleton was arrested around 5:30 p.m. and Wright was arrested at 10 p.m.
A report says both men are being charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
Middleton is currently on probation on weapon charges. The two men are being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.
Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of gunshot wounds after his body was found at the Septima Clark Expressway's intersection with Line Street around 12:41 a.m. on June 24., according to a report.
The investigation is still ongoing.
