NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police are trying to determine who evaded their pursuit on Monday night and left a stolen vehicle behind in a Goose Creek subdivision.
North Charleston Police Department spokesman Spencer Pryor said officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a 2009 Mazda near Ashley Phosphate Road and Pepperdame Avenue around 11:30 p.m. after noticing the vehicle had a headlight out.
Police said the driver then led officers on a chase to Rivers Avenue towards Goose Creek. Police said the suspect turned onto NAD Road before turning towards Snake Road to Foster Creek Road and turning into the Kensington Place subdivision.
There, Pryor said, the suspect fled the vehicle on foot into the wood line.
Pryor said the vehicle was reported stolen with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office at 9 p.m. that night.
