CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department is investigating an alleged rape of a 10-year-old boy following a basketball game.
The boy told police it happened around midnight on Friday. He said he was leaving the game, which was part of "Midnight Basketball," a summer youth recreation program at Mall Park.
The boy said as he was walking on America Street, he was attacked and raped by an older man.
Police are still investigating.
"We haven't verified that his account is accurate. However, the community should be vigilant and aware of strangers in their neighborhood," said Charles Francis with the Charleston Police Department.
