NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Investigators arrested a 28-year-old man accused of shooting a man on a bike multiple times in North Charleston.

The North Charleston Police Department arrested Devon Dontrell Garrett Wednesday evening for a shooting on Baxter Street.

On May 22, police responded to Baxter Street in reference to a person being shot. When a police officer arrived on the scene, he found the 23-year-old victim on the ground. According to police, the victim had been shot several times.

Investigators say they found 10 shell casings on the ground.

The victim told officers that as he was riding his bicycle on Baxter Street towards Spruill Avenue, he saw a man dressed in all black standing in the middle of the road.

According to the victim, as he got closer to the suspect, the suspect pulled out a gun and started shooting at him. The victim said he fell off his bike and tried to run, but couldn't feel his legs.

The victim was transported to MUSC.

Garrett was charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
